Shooting Near Shippensburg University Leaves 1 Dead, 1 Wounded

Pennsylvania State Police say a shooting near a state university campus has left a Philadelphia man dead and another wounded.

Police are seeking two 20-year-old men from Philadelphia in connection with the shooting, which occurred around 8 p.m. Sunday on Rotz Avenue near High Street, a few blocks away from the Shippensburg University campus.

The body of 21-year-old Shakur Myers was found near a vehicle, state police said. The 21-year-old wounded man was flown to a hospital and remains in critical condition.

It is unclear what led to the shooting.

The university said both men being sought are registered students but they were not in class and there was no indication they were on campus. Classes and other scheduled activities, however, were canceled as of 2 p.m. Monday "in the best interests of students, faculty and staff."
