Searching for Answers After Man, Woman Found Dead in Burning Philadelphia Rowhome

A young father & a woman were found dead in a burning North Philadelphia home

Philadelphia firefighters made a grisly discovery early Wednesday morning after getting a quick-moving rowhome blaze under control: Two bodies.

A male victim, identified by family members as Steven Tomoney, was found on the home's first floor of the home located at North 9th Street near West Somerset Street and West Lehigh Avenue. A female victim, identified by family as Tahisa Goode, was found on the second floor, Philadelphia police said.

The two might have been dating, police said, but family members said they didn't know the connection between the victims.

Tomoney was described as a devoted dad who left behind two daughters.

“You could not have asked for a better father,” the victim’s uncle, Julius Coles, said.

Family members said there was some sort of altercation on the block prior to the fire. Investigators want to know if that played a role in the blaze.

Arson has not been ruled out.

No other injuries were reported.
