One man died and another was critically wounded during a shooting that left them both sprawled out on a sidewalk outside a North Philadelphia apartment complex.
Police responded to the gunfire on the 1500 block of Allegheny Avenue around 11:47 p.m., Philadelphia Police Department Cpt. Frank Llewellyn said. Both victims, a 21-year-old and a 19-year-old, were shot multiple times in the chest.
Responding officers rushed both to Temple University Hospital, Llewellyn said. The 21-year-died while the other man remains in critical condition.
A man on the scene could be seen weeping as he dropped to his knees upon learning of the death of the 21-year-old. His relation to the victims was not clear, but two people helped prop him up as he repeatedly cried, "Oh my God."
It was unclear what sparked the shooting as police searched for suspects.
