Delaware State Police say a 75-year-old woman has died after her car was struck by a truck when she failed to stop at a stop sign near Dagsboro.
Police say Shirley Handy of Frankford was driving her Ford Taurus south on Power Plant Road on Friday afternoon when she continued past a stop sign at Bunting Road and into the path of a Ford F-250 pickup truck. Investigators say the truck crashed into the driver's side of Handy's car after she slowed but didn't stop at the posted sign.
The crash occurred about 4:20 p.m. Police say Handy was wearing a seat belt, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three people, including an 11 year-old boy, who were in the truck were not injured.
Police said the pickup had no posted stop sign and had the right of way at the time of the crash.
