A New Jersey man has been sentenced to 18 years in state prison after admitting he fatally injured his infant daughter at their home three years ago.
The Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office says 27-year-old Andrew Rieger of Millville was sentenced late last week. He had pleaded guilty in July to aggravated manslaughter.
Prosecutors say Rieger threw Aaleyah Rieger onto a couch. The 11-week-old girl then fell onto a wooden floor and suffered fatal head injuries. She died at a hospital in Delaware two days later.
Authorities haven't said why Rieger threw the child.
Rieger must serve at least 15 years and three months of his sentence before he can become eligible for parole.
