Authorities say a 4-year-old boy took the wheel of the family car and crashed into a New Jersey building after his father left him and his younger sister alone.
Ocean Township police say the accident occurred late Monday morning after Tavaris Reevey left his son and 2-year-old daughter unattended in the running car.
Investigators say the boy apparently climbed into the driver's seat and put the car in reverse. That sent the vehicle across the parking lot before it struck a brick stairway wall.
The 41-year-old Reevey was charged with child endangerment.
The two children were turned over to their mother after state child welfare officials were notified. Neither was hurt.
Reevey was released pending a future court appearance. A telephone number for him couldn't be located Tuesday.
