New Principal at Kidnapped Girl's School

A new principal is taking over at the Cobbs Creek elementary school where a 5-year-old girl was abducted. Police also announce the reward has increased to $85,000

A new principal is taking over at the Cobbs Creek elementary school after a 5-year-old girl was abducted during a breach of school security.

An Amber Alert was issued after the kindergartner was taken from William C. Bryant Elementary by a woman posing as her mother on Jan. 14. The girl was found shivering in the rain on an Upper Darby playground the next morning. Special Victims Unit Capt. John Darby said the girl went through an "unspeakable experience."

On Monday, Philadelphia School District Superintendent Dr. William Hite announced that four workers, including the principal, at the Cedar Avenue school were being disciplined for their actions.

Hite said that effective Tuesday, experienced educator Michael Rosenburg, would take over as principal of the school.

"He's a retired principal from the district, he's been in turnaround situations before," Hite said.

Rosenburg replaces Roy McKinney as the school's principal.

It isn’t clear if other jobs in the district would await McKinney and/or the other disciplined employees. Hite did say that some of the workers were still working in the district but others weren't.

The search for the woman who took the 5-year-old and her alleged male accomplice continued Monday as the reward for the arrest and conviction of the suspect(s) climbed to $85,000.
