Trio Uses Craigslist for Armed Robberies: Cops

Men allegedly use Craigslist to lure victims into a robbery

Three West Philadelphia men were arrested earlier this week for two alleged armed robberies in which they used Craigslist ads to lure their victims, Philadelphia Police announced Friday.

Edward Brown, 19, of the 400 block of S 45th Street; 20-year-old Terrence Brown (no relation) of the 600 block of Wynnewood Road; and 18-year-old Malcolm Craig from the unit block of N Robinson Street were arrested Tuesday for their alleged involvement in the scheme, cops said.

On two occasions the trio allegedly arranged meetings to sell items they had listed on Criagslist. The victims showed up ready to buy the items purchased but instead got robbed at gunpoint, cops said.

All three men were charged with two counts of robbery, assault, theft, conspiracy and other charges.
