16-Year-Old Charged With Carrying Gun in Delaware

New Castle County police say they've charged a 16-year-old with carrying a concealed weapon.

The New Castle County Police Department said in a statement that police were called around 1 a.m. on New Year's Day for a report involving a person with a gun.

Police say an officer driving to the scene on South Cannon Drive saw a teen matching the description of the suspect and asked for him to stop and show his hands, but the suspect fled.

The officer chased the teen but lost him, though officers searching the area found a handgun and clothing apparently left by the suspect.

Police say the teen eventually turned himself in and was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and resisting arrest.
