College Lacrosse Player Punched Cop

A men's college lacrosse player and Glen Mills native has been sentenced to 10 days in jail for punching a police officer.
 
Media outlets report 21-year-old Carl Douglass Walrath was sentenced Friday in Charlottesville General District Court after pleading guilty to assault and obstruction of justice.

Walrath plays lacrosse for the University of Virginia.

In return for his plea, prosecutors dropped charges of disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
 
Police said Walrath was among several people involved in a Nov. 24 fight in Charlottesville.
 
Walrath was sentenced to 90 days in jail on the assault charge, with 80 days suspended. He also was sentenced to 30 days on the obstruction charge, with all 30 days suspended.
 
Walrath is a junior midfielder from Glen Mills, Pa.
