Man Will Stand Trial in Bus Stop Murder of Co-Worker

A man charged with fatally shooting his co-worker as she waited for her morning bus to work has waived a preliminary hearing and will head to trial.

Randolph Sanders is being held on first-degree murder charges in the death of 56-year-old colleague Kim Jones.

Police said the 36-year-old Sanders was suspected of misusing about $40,000 in funds at the human services agency where he had been hired by Jones two years ago.

Authorities spent weeks examining surveillance video to identify the person seen stalking and killing the victim Jan. 13 before linking Sanders to the crime through his vehicle. Police said he then gave a statement.

Defense lawyer Michael Coard said his client has a master's degree and no prior arrests, and is presumed innocent.
