Christie Plans Trade-Promoting Trip to Mexico

Gov. Chris Christie is planning to travel to Mexico next month to promote business links between that country and New Jersey.

The trip with a delegation of business and higher education officials will be the second time he's traveled outside the U.S. as governor.

Christie visited Israel in 2012.

His office says that he also wants to experience Mexican culture firsthand. More than 200,000 New Jersey residents are of Mexican descent.

The state says that New Jersey exported more than $2 billion worth of goods to Mexico last year and imported nearly $3.5 billion.

The trip is scheduled for Sept. 3 to 5.
