7 Students Go to Hospital After School Bus Crashes in Delco

Seven of 29 Chester Community Charter School students hospitalized after minivan strikes bus

A school bus with 29 students on board crashed in Delaware County Monday morning leaving some of the students hurt.

The driver of a Nissan Quest minivan attempting to change lanes crashed into the bus carrying Chester Community Charter School students along West 2nd Street, near Tilghman Street, in Chester, Pennsylvania around 7:45 a.m., Chester police said.

Seven of the 29 students on board were transported to Crozer Chester Medical Center to be evaluated and were expected to all be discharged, police said.

Another bus came to take the uninjured students to school locations on Bethel Road and on Commerce Drive in Aston, police said.

The minivan driver was also hospitalized.

The scene was cleared by mid-morning and the crash remained under investigation. No charges were immediately filed.
