A suburban Philadelphia school district has ousted its controversial superintendent and replaced her with the former administrator it paid $900 a day to monitor her performance.
The Inquirer reports the Cheltenham Township School Board voted 9-0 Tuesday to approve a separation agreement with Natalie Thomas that keeps her on the payroll through the end of February.
Her four-year contract had run through the end of the 2016-2017 school year.
The board says ex-superintendent William Kiefer will replace Thomas on an interim basis.
Parents, teachers and staff had questioned Thomas' leadership and she's battled with the teachers' union and administrators.
Kiefer served as district superintendent from 2006 to 2010.
Thomas, a 57-year-old St. Louis, Missouri native, is paid $180,000 a year.
The Cheltenham Township School District serves about 4,500 students.
