Caught on Cam: Thieves Steal $3200 in Items During Smash & Grab at Video Game Store

Police are on the hunt for three men caught on surveillance video smashing through a display glass and stealing items from a local video game store.

On September 18, at 3:15 p.m., police say three men entered a GameStop Store on the 5300 block of Chew Avenue in East Germantown. 

At first the suspects acted as if they were shopping. After several minutes however, surveillance cameras show one of the men pull out a hammer and smash the display glass. The three men then steal an iPad, iTouch, and an iPod Nano, worth a total of $3200.

Police say the men then fled on foot towards Wister Avenue.

The first suspect is described as a thin man in his late teens to early 20’s with a goatee. Police say he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with horizontal white stripes, dark-colored pants and white/black converse style sneakers.

The second suspect is described as a thin man, also in his late teens to early 20’s with a goatee. Police say he was wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, black/white sneakers and was armed with a hammer.

The third suspect is described as a thin man in his late to early 20’s with a light beard. Police say he was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, dark-colored baseball hat and dark-colored pants.
