Pennsylvania gambling regulator says the state's fifth and final stand-alone casino will need to offer more than just slot machines and table games in an increasingly saturated market.
Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board member Gregory Fajt addressed what he called the "elephant in the room" at a hearing in Philadelphia on Tuesday morning.
The board is listening to pitches for a second casino in Philadelphia. Fajt says he doesn't believe southeastern Pennsylvania has the capacity for "just another casino.'' He asked executives from Penn National Gaming Inc. what separates their $480 million Hollywood Casino proposal from existing casinos in the region.
Four other applicants are also making presentations to the board. Regulators expect to make a decision on a license within a few months.
