Gambling Association Writes on Benefits of Casino Industry in Pa.

The American Gaming Association has sent a letter to Pennsylvania's legislative leaders highlighting the findings of a study on casino gambling's impact in the state.

The letter sent Thursday cites a study conducted by Oxford Economics that found Pennsylvania's casino industry contributes $6.2 billion to the state's economy, supports more than 30,000 jobs and generates $2.4 billion in tax revenue.

The association calls on the legislature to work with the casino industry to create a new gambling policy and regulatory approach.

A spokesman wouldn't disclose specifics of what those changes could be, but says the association would like to see more efficiency in gambling policy.

Pennsylvania is the second-largest casino market in the country in gross revenue and is No. 1 in taxes collected.
