A beach supervisor for a Jersey Shore town has admitted having sex with a teenage girl he supervised.
Charles Cusack pleaded guilty Monday to official misconduct and sexual contact, shortly before his trial was about to start.
Cape May County prosecutors will recommend that the 52-year-old Egg Harbor Township resident receive a probation term when he's sentenced Dec. 18. He also must register as a sex offender.
A retired Ocean City police officer, Cusack was serving as a beach supervisor in that town when authorities say he had consensual sex with a 17-year-old beach-tag checker.
Authorities say the girl could legally consent to the sex, but Cusack was charged because he had a supervisory role over her. He could have faced up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
