Camden Cops Search for Serial Rapist

Police are searching for a man who they say is responsible for 3 recent sexual assaults in Camden

A man police are calling a "serial rapist" is terrorizing young victims in a wooded area in Camden, N.J.

Police were searching for the man who they say is responsible for three recent sexual assaults that occurred near Camden High School in the Farnham Park area along Baird Boulevard from Route 30 to Park Boulevard.

All the alleged attacks happened in the afternoon hours between 2 to 5:30 p.m, according to investigators.

Detectives say the suspect's targets included minors.

The latest assault happened Saturday, according to Camden Police.

A 16-year-old girl was walking to meet a friend during the day near Camden High School when the suspect approached her, according to investigators.

"I thank God that this guy did not kill my daughter," said the girl's mother. "Before she even reached toward the school, that's when the guy came out from nowhere and grabbed her from behind and had his hand over her face."

Police say the man then shoved the girl into a wooded area in Farnham Park.

"He punched her, both jaws and her lip," the victim's mother told NBC10. "And he raped her."

The mother says her daughter saw a gun in the attacker's hands and was also threatened with a knife. After taking her clothes and assaulting her, she says the suspect forced her daughter to walk several blocks before finally letting her go.

"I just don't want the next child to get hurt like my daughter did," said the woman.

The suspect is described as a medium-built black male, 20 to 30 years of age and between 5-feet-7 to 5-feet-11-inches tall. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a black mask covering the lower half of his face.

Police were canvassing the area near the alleged attacks looking for leads.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. If you have any information on his whereabouts, please contact Det. J. Waida at 856-757-7421.
