Bat-Wielding Vandals Trash Cars in Camden Co.

Police were looking for the public’s help to nab vehicle vandals

Police were looking for the public’s help after a group of vandals drove around at least six Camden County, N.J. towns breaking windows on parked cars and even a bus.

The vandals struck between 3 and 4 a.m. Wednesday, authorities say.

They hit at least 12 vehicles in Oaklyn, nine in Haddon Township, four in Audubon, two in Haddonfield, one in Collingswood and some in Cherry Hill, officials say.

Authorities believe their weapon of choice was a baseball bat -- they would drive by the cars and break the glass.

Besides the inconvenience there was the problem of paying to fix the damage.

“Of course it was upsetting because I know my deductible won't cover it,” said Al Amrhein of Audubon.

Police are hoping that some green paint that may have splattered from a tipped trash can would lead to the alleged vandals. It’s possible that the car they were in has green paint splattered on the undercarriage and wheel area.

Anyone with possible leads on the culprits should contact the police departments in any of the towns affected.
