SEPTA Bus Jackknifes, Crashes Into Philadelphia Home as Light Snow Falls

Officials say light snow fall created slick travel conditions that may have contributed to the bus crash.

Authorities say a SEPTA bus jackknifed and crashed into a North Philadelphia home, leaving a bus passenger injured.

The crash occurred on West Diamond Street around 1:45 a.m. Monday.

Authorities say two passengers were on the Route 33 Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority's bus when the driver lost control and crashed into the home. A female passenger suffered a leg injury and was hospitalized in stable condition, but her name has not been released.

None of the five people in the home — two adults and three children — were injured. But the family had to leave their home after authorities determined that the crash left the structure unsafe.

Authorities say light snow was falling at the time, creating slick travel conditions that may have contributed to the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
