Burglars Target Main Line Homes

Police say the suspects are scouting out neighborhoods, telling residents they are looking to do yard work

A slew of recent burglaries have residents along the Main Line nervous as the search is on for suspects in several recent home burglaries.

In the past four days at least six burglaries and one attempted break-in were reported.

Laptops, jewelry and cash were stolen in Bala Cynwyd, Wynnewood and Penn Wynne since last Saturday, police said.

The alleged thieves are getting into the homes through open windows, doors and, in some cases, by forceful entry, according to police.

It's believed the suspects are scouting out neighborhoods, with a fake story about looking for yard work, according to Montgomery County officials.

“I’m pretty nervous about it, the reason we moved here is that it’s supposed to be a safe neighborhood,” said neighbor David Cavanaugh.

“I guess because we’re so close to City Avenue the crime creeps kind of over.”

Anyone with information about these burglaries is asked to call Lower Merion Township Police at 610-649-1000.
