Bundle Up for an Arctic Blast

Ice, rain moving out; wind, cold moving in

Now that the ice has gone away and the rain is moving out, it's time to concentrate on the wind and cold about to hit the area.

Winds will be 20-30 mph Thursday, but temperatures will be close to average.

The wind will, of course, make it feel much colder. Another arctic blast is due Sunday after a weak weather system that could bring some light rain or snow to the area Saturday.

Temperatures Sunday will barely get above freezing, and with the wind, it will feel like the low 20s at best.

But that's nothing compared to the big blast coming next week.

After another weak system Monday that could bring some light snow, air originating near the North Pole will move in.

The coldest day in the seven-day forecast is next Wednesday, when the temperature may barely get above 20 degrees.

Wind chills are likely to go below zero during this cold blast, and at least one night may feature a low temperature in the single digits.
