Sad Ending in Search for Buddy

The search for a Havertown family's beloved dog came to a sad end Friday afternoon.

David Nowacki tells NBC Philadelphia that Buddy -- his a 13-year-old sheltie/collie mix -- has died.

Buddy went missing from his Spring Road home last Thursday, just days before Hurricane Irene hit our area.

According to his family, Buddy was sitting on the front porch of his home -- as he often does -- when thunder rolled in. The family believes he was spooked by the thunder and took off.

Family and friends were desperately searching for their missing family member. They even posted more than 1,000 fliers in various neighborhoods in Delaware and Montgomery Counties.

Buddy was suffering from an unknown medical condition, but it is not known if that may have contributed to his death.

Buddy's family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
