Bucks Woman Wants Ban on Fox Hunts After Alleged Attack

Woman claims she and her dog were attacked by two dozen fox hounds during hunt

A suburban Philadelphia woman wants a county-wide ban on fox hunts after she says hounds taken out for a New Year's Day hunt attacked her and her aging dog.

Judy Cox says she was set upon by some of the two dozen foxhounds while walking in the woods near her home in Warwick Township, Bucks County.

Cox says she suffered bites and bruises and her dog Daisy needed veterinary care after the ordeal. Now she and her husband, a township supervisor who intervened, want the county to ban the hunts.

Fox hunter Claire Harris says the group meant no harm. She tells the Doylestown Intelligencer the bites were an accident and nothing like that has happened before.

Police forwarded a report to prosecutors. No charges have been filed.
