Brutal Attack, Rape Caught on Tape

Alleged rapist returns to the scene just an hour later like nothing happened

A mere hour after raping a woman in the parking lot of a convenience store, the suspect returned to the scene of the crime like nothing happened.

A 19-year-old woman was walking to work along the 600-block of Liberty Street in Trenton, N.J. just after 6 a.m. Tuesday when she was grabbed by another pedestrian.

The suspect, who pretended to be talking on his cell phone, was walking in front of the woman when he changed his course to let her pass. He then grabbed the woman from behind and dragged her across a parking lot and behind a parked van.

The unidentified man then raped the woman and robbed her before fleeing the scene, police say.

The woman emerged from behind the van a few minutes later and called for help. She was treated at an area hospital and released.

One of 16 surveillance cameras from Amigos Grocery caught the entire attack on tape. Then at 7:18 a.m., another camera from inside the store shows the man smiling and laughing as he made a purchase -- just an hour after the rape.

Police are hoping the public will recognize the suspect who's described as a 6-foot tall man who was last seen wearing a white ribbed tank and jeans. He had cornrows in his hair and a goatee.

A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction. Investigators are asking anyone with information to call their confidential tip line at 610.989.3663.
