Family Cat Dies During Damaging House Fire in Delaware County

A family cat died during a house fire in Delaware County early Saturday morning.

A husband and wife were able to make it out safely.

The fire started about 6 a.m. in the 2200 block of Glen Spring Lane in Broomall.

The intensity of the fire caused the roof of the home to collapse.

A husband and wife who were inside the home when the fire broke out were able to safely escape. Unfortunately, the couple’s cat did not survive.

The homeowner told NBC10 he heard what sounded like animals in the attic about a week ago. The man said he heard the same noise Saturday morning before they discovered the fire in the attic.

Representatives with the Red Cross were assisting the couple.

The cause remains under investigation.
