Woman Strikes Person Along Broad Street, Drives Off: Police

Police made an arrest in the Broad Street hit-and-run that sent a pedestrian to the hospital early Friday.

A 34-year-old man was sitting on the southeast corner of Broad Street waiting for his SEPTA bus to arrive when he was struck by a car around 2:30 a.m., said police

The driver immediately fled the scene, but authorities managed to locate the vehicle responsible. Police found the 2008 Black Kia Optima nearby on the 1500 block on W. Diamond Street.

Police were then able to link the vehicle, which was found with extensive damage to the front right tire, to its owner, Ashley Ditzler.

The suspect, 27, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and driving under the influence.

The victim of the hit-and-run sustained a broken left leg injury. He could require surgery at Hahnemann Hospital, but at last check, was is in stable condition.
