Car Kills Pony, Injures Pennsylvania Boy

Police in Pennsylvania say a car has struck a boy riding his pony through a stop sign, throwing the pair 90 feet. The pony died, and the child was hospitalized.

State police told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that the crash happened Friday afternoon in Knox, which is about 70 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

They said the boy rode his pony past a stop sign and into an intersection, where both were hit by a car. The pony died instantly.

The boy was seriously injured and is listed in stable condition at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.

Troopers identified the child as Eli Troyer but did not give his age.
