A 13-year-old boy has fallen 30 to 40 feet from a beam in an abandoned steel mill in western Pennsylvania, prompting local officials to reach out to the property's owner.
Glassport Mayor Rosemary Bradley says she's spoken to the salvage company owner who now owns the former steel mill about safeguarding the area since Monday's incident.
Police say a boy playing with his siblings lost his balance and fell from the steel beam to the concrete floor below about 3 p.m.
Police haven't released the boy's name, but say he was conscious and speaking to emergency crews before he was taken to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.
The boy was helped after his siblings ran home to tell their parents. The extent of his injuries wasn't immediately clear Tuesday.
