Pennsylvania Woman With Abuse Order Dies in Murder-Suicide

A northeastern Pennsylvania woman gunned down in a murder-suicide had obtained a protection-from-abuse order against her killer a week before.

Police found the woman, 35-year-old Jennifer Bower and 28-year-old Shawn Kishbaugh dead at Bower's home in Salem Township, Luzerne County. That happened early Wednesday after neighbors reported hearing a reported fight.

The Citizens' Voice reports Bower got an emergency PFA against Kishbaugh on May 27. The order barred him from having any contact with her.

Luzerne County Coroner William Lisman ruled both died from a single gunshot wound, and that Bower's death was a homicide and Kishbaugh's a suicide.

Bower claimed in obtaining the PFA that Kishbaugh had threatened to kill her several times, including one time when she jumped from a car after he threatened to crash it.
