Body of Missing Triathlete Found

Searchers have found the body of a man who went missing from a northern New Jersey beach this week while training for a mini-triathlon.

But it's not yet known what caused the death of 60-year-old Joseph Arcoleo.

Denville police say the township resident was last seen around 6 p.m. Friday, when a lifeguard saw him coming out of the water at Cook's Pond.

But when staff members were closing down the beach about two hours later, they found Arcoleo's clothes and other personal items but could not locate him.

They also noticed his car was still on the premises, so an extensive search was launched.

A state police dive team found Arcoleo's body around 2:40 p.m. Saturday, about 30 yards offshore.

Authorities say no one saw Arcoleo re-enter the water.
