Body Recovered from Frozen Lake Believed to be ATV Rider

New Jersey State Police recovered a body from a frozen lake in Woodland Township Tuesday afternoon. News of the discovery was reported on the NJSP Twitter page.

Sunday afternoon, an ATV rider attempted to cross the ice at the Ward Sand Quarry in Vincentown. Witnesses say he didn't make it across and fell under the ice. Friends at the scene on Sunday identified the ATV rider as Philip Raimondo of Shamong Township.

Witnesses say Raimondo fell under the ice as it caved as he tried to cross the quarry. A call into dispatch at 5:09 p.m. Sunday reported an ATV rider fell into the ice and there was no sign of the rider.

Red Lion State Police responded to the scene at 5:14 p.m. Search crews spent nearly two hours searching the quarry Sunday evening. Due to darkness and for safety reasons, the search was called off Sunday evening.

Search crews did not return Monday to continue the search for the rider due to weather conditions, according to Burlington County Dispatchers. The search resumed on Tuesday.
