Woman Hurt in Shooting at South Jersey Fishery, Police Find Suspect on Nearby Boat

State police investigated a shooting that happened on a boat near a fishery in South Jersey.

Sgt. Jeff Flynn said Lower Township and state police responded to a report of the shooting at around 10:30 p.m. Saturday in Cape May.

Police said 38-year-old Doris Howell, of Whitesboro, was found on a boat near Lund's Fishery with a shotgun wound to her lower leg. She was taken to Atlantic City Medical Center where she was listed in stable condition.

Police said they arrested a 43-year-old Lower Township man who was found on an adjacent boat. He is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and other weapons charges.

Flynn said the cause of the incident remains under investigation.
