Teen Accused of Killing Foster Father

Authorities arrested a teen Tuesday night in New York City on charges of stabbing his former foster father to death in Camden County earlier in the week.

Authorities say the boy was Theotis Butts' foster son. The 67-year-old man was found dead in his Hemlock Drive home in Blackwood Monday night.

The suspect, whose name has not been released because of his age, will be extradited back to New Jersey to face the murder charge.

The boy had allegedly planned on burglarizing the home, investigators said.

“Some drawers were open and it was clear he was looking for items of value -- particularly cash is what we believe and in this case he was there in the process of committing a theft and he was interrupted by Mr. Butts,” Gloucester Township Police Chief Harry Earle said.

The identification of the teen wasn’t released since he is being charged as a juvenile. He was awaiting extradition back to New Jersey Wednesday night.
