Bethlehem Industrial Museum Resumes Construction Amid Investigation

Bethlehem's long-delayed industrial museum has resumed construction amid a state investigation into its operations.

The Express-Times of Easton reports the National Museum of Industrial History began construction Tuesday on the building's concrete slab and underground utilities.

A grand jury report released in January questioned why there's still no museum after 17 years and $18 million in fundraising.

The Pennsylvania attorney general has been investigating the museum's operations since April and is looking into whether the nonprofit should be dissolved.

Executive director L. Charles Marcon says the organization believes it has the $6 million needed to open the museum's first floor by early 2016 but needs the state investigation wrapped up to fully secure the funding.
