A forest fire is burning at French Creek State Park in Berks and Chester County. Nearby homes were evacuated Tuesday morning. 517 acres have burned so far.

Some Berks County residents are staying at an emergency shelter at the Immaculate Conception Social Hall in Birdsboro. Evacuated Chester County residents are being cared for at the Immaculate Conception church in Douglassville.

There were previous concerns about a nearby fireworks factory on Sycamore Road in Douglassville, but on Monday night firefighters were able to secure protection around that store.

Dozens of emergency crews are working to contain the fire and say about 90 to 95 percent of the blaze has been contained.

Investigators say three minor injuries have been reported. No word yet on the cause of the fire.
