A volunteer firefighter is recovering after he fell while battling a house fire in Bensalem Saturday morning.
Firefighters responded to a house fire on the 1100 block of Tennis Avenue at 9:10 a.m. The only resident inside the house managed to escape after suffering minor burns to both feet. The victim was taken to Aria Torresdale Hospital for treatment.
While fighting the fire, Nottingham Fire Company Volunteer Nick Weaver, who also serves on Bensalem Fire Rescue, fell from a third story roof, injuring his face, neck and back. He was taken to Aria Torresdale Hospital as well where he is currently in stable condition.
A second volunteer firefighter experienced tightness in his chest while at the scene of the blaze and was taken to Aria Torresdale Hospital where he is also in stable condition.
Officials have not yet determined the cause of the fire but believe it started in a second floor bedroom and spread to the attic. They also say it doesn’t appear to be suspicious.
