A juvenile is facing charges in connection with the firing of a gun during a fight inside a high school in Philadelphia.
About noon on Friday, Philadelphia police were called to Ben Franklin High School on N. Broad for the report of a gunshot. The school was placed on lockdown.
According to investigators, a fight broke out between several students in a stairwell. During the altercation, police say a gunshot was fired inside the school.
Police found a .45 caliber shell casing in the stairwell.
A search warrant was obtained and served at the juvenile’s home. He was taken into custody.
About 1:30 a.m. Saturday, police say the juvenile was read his rights and placed under arrest. Charges are pending.
