BB Strikes Girl in Eye as She Plays on Philadelphia Rec Center Playground

The second pellet gun shooting of the day outside a Philadelphia rec center left a girl with an eye injury.

The shooting happened shortly before 7 p.m. as children played at the West Mill Creek Recreation Center playground in West Philly.

Someone opened fire with a pellet gun striking a girl, aged 8 or 9, in the eye, said Philadelphia Police.

The girl’s mother later took her to the hospital.

The shooting came on the heels of another BB gun shooting earlier in the day where another girl was struck, said block captain Denise Curry.

“I had two kids get shot in the face with BB guns today… thank God they were plastic pellets… she could have lost her eye,” said Curry.

It wasn’t clear who shot the weapon.
