Authorities say a worker at a southern New Jersey business was selling high-end merchandise in a scheme that cost her employer about $2.6 million.
Logan police tell the South Jersey Times that 32-year-old Kim Watson of Clementon has been charged with theft. She worked as an inventory clerk at the Sears distribution center in Logan.
Authorities say Watson was arrested Friday after a lengthy investigation that is still ongoing. She apparently had been taking cash payments and barter services in exchange for high-end merchandise from the center.
Authorities say the operation served a network of people around the region. The merchandise involved totaled roughly $3.7 million in retail value, leaving Sears with about a $2.6 million net loss.
It was not known Saturday if Watson has retained a lawyer.
