Man Tries to Lure Girl in Hamilton Township, Police Say

Police are searching for a man accused of trying to lure a girl in Hamilton Township, Mercer County, New Jersey, Saturday night.

The unidentified man was driving a black, four-door vehicle, believed to be a 2008-2009 Ford Fusion when he began following a 12-year-old girl walking on Christine Avenue between Steinert and Wegner avenues around 8:15 p.m., police said.

The man then got out of the car, approached the girl and tried several times to talk to her, according to investigators. The girl then began to run away while calling her home. The man noticed the girl was on her phone, went back into his car, made a U-turn and fled the area, police said.

The suspect is described as a tall man with a deep voice and athletic build between the ages of 25 and 30 and standing between 5-foot-11 and 6-foot-2. He also had a freshly trimmed and short beard and was wearing a black baseball hat, black shirt, black jeans and black shoes, police said.
