Dozens Gather on Atlantic City Boardwalk to Show Support for Law Enforcement

Dozens of people have gathered on the Atlantic City boardwalk to show solidarity with local police departments.

City Mayor Don Guardian, Rep. Frank LoBiondo and local police chiefs were among those who attended Friday afternoon's event, which also drew several police officers. Calling law enforcement one of the toughest and most dangerous occupations, they stressed various efforts made by police to unite communities and make them safer.

The Press of Atlantic City (http://bit.ly/1ws1WxE) reports that many in the crowd of about 200 people voiced similar views, saying police are often unfairly criticized for simply doing their job.

The rally comes in the wake of protests staged around the country over the deaths of black men at the hands of white officers.
