Three people are dead after a speeding sports utility vehicle lost control and crashed head-on into another car at a five-point intersection in Montgomery County.
The two SUVs collided Thursday shortly before midnight near Ridge Pike and Chemical Road in Plymouth Township, county dispatchers said. A fourth person was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.
The crash happened when the driver of a speeding Honda Pilot traveling east on Ridge Pike lost control at a curve near Chemical Road and crossed the center median, striking a Dodge Grand Caravan head-on, the Plymouth Township Police Department said in a news release.
Both drivers, plus one of the two passengers in the Honda, died at the scene. The passenger who died was ejected onto the roadway, the PTPD said.
The collision left both vehicles with major front-end damage and caused debris to fly onto the roadway. The road was closed for hours before reopening around 6 a.m. Friday.
