Armed Burglars Target Chesco Homes in Broad Daylight

Police are searching for three gunmen who targeted homes in Chester County in broad daylight.

A 67-year-old man told police he was driving past his 32-year-old daughter’s home on Glen Hope Road in Elk Township last Thursday when he spotted a blue Dodge Caravan mini-van backing into her driveway.

The man got out and approached the vehicle. As he walked towards it he heard a noise coming from the inside of his daughter’s garage. Believing a burglary was taking place, the man began to call police when he was suddenly approached by a gunman with a bandana covering his face.
The victim told police the gunman pointed a black semi-automatic pistol at him and ordered him to the ground. The victim then fled on foot as the gunman entered the mini-van and drove westbound on Glen Hope Road towards Canterbury Court. Police say the gunman had stolen a rifle and ammo from the home prior to confronting the victim.

Police believe the incident was also connected to an attempted burglary at a nearby home on Canterbury Court that took place around the same time. A 46-year-old woman told police she spotted a white four-door sedan park in front of her home around 12:25 p.m. The woman says two men got out of the vehicle and walked towards her house.

The woman then heard a knock at her front door and spotted one of the men standing there. The woman says she then spotted the second man armed with a semi-automatic pistol trying to break through the backdoor of her home. As the woman called state police, the two men fled the scene in the white sedan. The woman says she also spotted the same blue minivan involved in the Glen Hope Road burglary following the sedan.

The first suspect is described as a man in his early 20’s with tattoos on his upper arms wearing a short sleeve shirt and denim cargo shorts. The second suspect is described as a man in his early 20’s with tattoos on his arms wearing similar clothing to the first suspect. The third suspect is described as a man with dark hair and a grey bandana covering his face dressed in a light grey t-shirt and dark pants.
