American Airlines Flight Returns to Philadelphia International Airport After Engine Goes Out

A American Airlines flight returned to Philadelphia International Airport after an engine went out Monday morning.

The Manchester, New Hampshire-bound flight with 53 passengers and three crew on board returned to PHL shortly after taking off around 10 a.m. One of Flight 5927’s engines had gone out shortly after takeoff, according to airline spokeswoman Victoria Lupica.

The American Eagle Embraer aircraft landed safely and was able to taxi to Terminal B where the passengers got off the plane.

No one was hurt and the airline reaccommodated passengers onto other flights, said Lupica.

Airline mechanics examined the aircraft to investigate what happened.
