The Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation has surpassed the $100 million fundraising mark.
The Wynnewood, Pa., nonprofit organization grew out of a front yard lemonade stand started by cancer patient Alexandra "Alex" Scott, who lost her battle with cancer in 2004 at 8 years old. Alex had neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer. She was born in Connecticut, but moved to Wynnewood to be closer to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where she was being treated.
Alex started selling lemonade in her front yard when she was 4 years old to help raise money to help other sick kids with cancer.
