Documents taken from the website of the property owners show that the work was up for bid and that the property was being completely renovated inside and out.

Officials say work was being done in the basement area. Wiring could be spotted hanging near the sealing.

A source with the Philadelphia fire department says they suspect a gas leak may have led to the explosion.

Fire officials say someone was working on a water heater inside the home before the explosion.

SCK Investments owns the property. NBC10 tried to contact them for comment but they declined.

Permits issued by L&I show four different contractors were either renovating the interior, installing plumbing and furnace and most recently installing new electrical wires and sockets.

L&I says none of the four contractors had any violations while working at the house.
