Wrongfully Released Defendant Re-admitted to Correctional Facility

A wrongfully released Philadelphia man was re-admitted to the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility early Wednesday morning.

Shamir Robinson, 21, was mistakenly released from custody on Dec. 20 after a judge sentenced him to time-served in a robbery case.

Robinson should have remained in custody because his bail had been revoked in a separate robbery and assault case. The mistake wasn't noticed until Monday, when Robinson showed up for a hearing related to those charges.

After court officials asked Robsinon why he wasn't still in custody, he disappeared from the courtoom and was wanted on a bench warrant.

He was picked up without incident from the house of a relative on Wednesday shortly before 9 a.m.
