Car Strikes Teenagers Crossing Roosevelt Boulevard: Police

A driver temporarily fled the scene after striking two teenage females along Northeast Philadelphia's Roosevelt Boulevard (U.S. Route 1) late Sunday night.

The teens were walking in the southbound lanes of the Boulevard at Tyson Avenue after 10 p.m. Sunday when they were struck by a passing vehicle.

Medics rushed the teens to Aria-Torresdale Hospital in stable condition. Police said they expect both teens to recover.

The driver initially took off but later returned to the scene, said police. No word on any possible charges.

The wreck left the southbound inner lanes of the Boulevard closed between Cottman and Tyson avenues due to the crash. those lanes reopened overnight.
